Space Engineers Home. Spaceenginers. Space Engineers is an open world sandbox game defined by creativity and exploration. It is a sandbox game about engineering.
First introduced by Cavedog in Total Annihilation: Kingdoms. TA's unofficial version is much more similar to TAK's than to SC's. Actually, the guy who made it (xpoy) knows a lot about TAK. Mine is fine, but a lot of people lag with this TA full-screen radar, especially in newer Windows versions. JR360: The 5000 unit patch does not work on my total annihilation program. If anyone else has installed this patch and gotten the unit limit to 5000 please post how you did. Mine is stuck at 500.
To install Total Annihilation Zero, follow the instructions below. The installation procedure differs depending on the version of Total Annihilation you have.
Digital Download versions of Total Annihilation
- Download Total Annihilation from GOG.com, Impulse, or other online retailers and install (GOG.com version highly recommended).
- Download Total Annihilation Zero and install. You will be required to also download and install the TA Patch Resources if it is not already installed, which the TA Zero installer can do automatically.
- You must ensure that your in-game resolution is set to 1024×768 or higher.
Original CD version of Total Annihilation
- Install Total Annihilation by selecting Regular Install.
- (Optional) Relaunch the installer and do the Multiplayer Spawn. If you don't do this, maps from Total Annihilation will not be available unless you have the disc inserted.
- (Optional) Install the Core Contingency and/or Battle Tactics expansion packs. The expansions are not required to play TA Zero but if you don't install them the new maps will not be available.
[Note: The expansion installers do not work on 64-bit versions of Windows, but you can install manually by copying the contents of the CC subfolder (for TA:CC) and BT subfolder (for TA:BT) from the respective disc to the game folder] - Download and install the TA 3.1c Patch.
- Download Total Annihilation Zero and install. You will be required to also download and install the TA Patch Resources if it is not already installed, which the TA Zero installer can do automatically.
- You must ensure that your in-game resolution is set to 1024×768 or higher.
Notes
- Total Annihilation Zero installs to its own subfolder and does not overwrite or modify Total Annihilation nor does it conflict with other mods in any way.
- Total Annihilation Zero requires 1024×768 or higher in-game resolution. If you select a lower resolution, the game will crash when you select your Commander. It is recommended to select your display's native resolution. All resolutions and aspect ratios are supported by the game.
- If you have Windows 7 and have selected a desktop theme with rotating backgrounds, you should disable the desktop slideshow or switch to a desktop theme with a static background before playing Total Annihilation Zero (or Total Annihilation). If you don't, graphical anomalies will occur while playing whenever the desktop background changes.
- Do not set a compatibility mode (such as Windows 95, Windows XP, etc.) as it is not necessary and may disable the megamap and artificially limit the list of available in-game resolutions.
- Do not play in windowed mode unless necessary as many new features such as the megamap, line building, whiteboard marking, and multiplayer ally resource bars only work in fullscreen mode. In addition, the frame rate will be much lower in windowed mode compared to fullscreen mode due to the lack of hardware acceleration in windowed mode combined with TA Zero's high system requirements compared to Total Annihilation.
- Do not attempt to install the expansion packs or 3.1c patch to the GOG.com, Impulse, or other digital download versions of Total Annihilation – these features are already included.
- Even if you have the CD version of Total Annihilation, the disc does not need to be inserted to play Total Annihilation Zero. However, as noted above, the original maps will not be available without the disc inserted unless you performed the Multiplayer Spawn prior to installing TA Zero.
Discuss anything and everything -related: strategies, AIs, mods, nostalgia, etc.Want to get a copy of Total Annihilation?. Was buried in the unofficial patch thread, and it worked for me. All you do is copy everything from that file into your TA file, with the unofficial patch, and replace whatever comes up.This is directly from the post:Everyone who had issues launching the game and had to set vsync off try the test fix below. Xpoy is working on the issue so hopefully we'll get this fixed in the next few days.
Unzip the test fix files to your game folder after the patch is installed. There is a new 'UseVideoMemory=TRUE;' option in TA.ini that is set to TRUE by default (if the field is missing). The vsync option no longer controls this setting. So, set vsync back to 01 in the registry, then try running the game with the UseVideoMemory setting set to both TRUE and FALSE.Probably this is what will happen (with vsync turn on for each scenario):On Win7 with an Nvidia card or older ATI card, TRUE will crash the game and FALSE will work perfect. On Win7 with a newer AMD/ATI card, FALSE will crash the game and TRUE will work. Update: I fixed it by following these steps1) Please make sure that you use 'Run as Administrator' to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select 'Run as Administrator'). If you are using Galaxy, then make sure to run Galaxy as Administrator.2) Please reinstall the game AND add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list. Simply disabling firewall or AV software could not be enough, since some of these software are running still in background or in services list.
